Catherine B. Toler, 85

SMYRNA - Catherine B. Toler, 85, of Smyrna, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, in Kent General Hospital. She was born on June 16, 1924, in Hazlettville, daughter of the late Samuel and Nellie (Voshell) Hobbs. Catherine had worked for Playtex for 20 years and for a brief time operated a beauty shop in her home in Wyoming. She then owned and operated Toler's Grocery Store in Canterbury for 20 years before enjoying her retirement. She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Toler in 1964. She is survived by a daughter, Lori Holford and her husband John of Smyrna; a brother, John Hobbs Sr. of Woodside; a sister, Dorothy Bickling of Camden; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Holford, and Liza Holford; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be noon, Friday, Oct. 23, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
