CAMDEN - Castrenze (Cas) Bonanno passed away peacefully in his home, Wednesday, October 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Cas was born October 2, 1931 in Passaic, New Jersey to the late, Anthony & Mary (Venezia) Bonanno. Cas served proudly in the United States Air Force for 23 years, retiring with the Rank of Master Sergeant in 1971. While serving in Japan, he met and married his wife Kyoko (Tai) Bonanno, and shared 67 years of marital bliss. His tour of duty included, Japan, Korea & Vietnam twice during his military career. Cas was awarded numerous awards and citations in his service to his Country. Stateside, he earned his GED, and later went on to earn his Associated Degree in Social Studies at Wesley College; and a Bachelors Degree from Wilmington College in Behavioral Science. Cas later became employed with the Department of Labor as an employment interviewer & Veterans Representative for the State of Delaware. He also worked as a Correctional Counselor for the Delaware Department of Corrections, at both the Smyrna & Georgetown Correctional Facility, retiring in 1992.
Cas was an active member of the catholic church at Dover Air Force Base for many years, and served as a volunteer in various chapel activities. Cas was also an active member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, DAV, VFW, and the American Legion Post 2. In his free time, Cas loved landscaping and working in the yard.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom & wife, Joan; two brother-in-laws, Phil & Katsuya; and sister-in-law, Yuko.
Cas is survived by his wife of 67 years, Tai; two sons, Tony & his wife, Teresa and Joe & his wife Marge; three grandchildren, Jennifer & husband, Nate Wix, Anthony Paul Bonanno, and Vincent Michael Bonanno & wife, Cate; six great-grandchildren, Ian & Conner Wix, Alyssa & Anthony Bonanno, Jr., Matteo Fortunate & Danie Bonanno; and his sister, Lena.
Cas loved his family very dearly. He was their Grandpop, Pop-Pop, and Pop, Pop, Pop.
Funeral Services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, October 28, 2021, in the Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; where family and friends may view from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
