MILLINGTON, Md. - Carolyn L. Burrows, of Millington, died July 8, 2011, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown, Md. Mrs. Burrows was born on March 23, 1942, daughter of the late C. Olin and Edna Comegys Powell. She was raised in Kennedyville and was a 1960 graduate of Chestertown High School. In 1962 she graduated from Goldey Beacom College, and later worked as a secretary for Wilson, Nuttle & Raymond, Phil Whiting and Mountaire Grain Mill. She held memberships in both Galena and Kennedyville United Methodist Churches, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She is preceded in death by her infant sons, Allen and Joseph Maxwell; and a brother, Olin Powell. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 20 years, Howard Burrows; two children, Carol Millicent Strootman (Karl) of Chestertown, and Charles E. Marker, IV (Kate) of Bristow, Va; a stepson, Paul K. Burrows (Wendy) Worton; three sisters, Carol Rybicki of Chestertown, Sharon Johnston of Chesterville, and Dolly Pratt of Chestertown; and eight grandchildren, Thomas Duff, Jr., Ashley Nichole Burrows Cornilius, Troy, Rebbecca & Annabel Strootman, Kiera Johnson and Carleigh and Chase Marker. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, at the Kennedyville United Methodist Church, Kennedyville, MD, where friends may call 1 hour prior. Burial in adjoining cemetery.
