MILFORD, DE - Caroline Flenniken Huntzinger died Friday, January 19, 2024.
Mrs. Huntzinger was born at St. Luke's University Hospital – Bethlehem, located in Fountain Hill, PA, the daughter of the late Carroll and Madge (Anderson) Flenniken. She graduated from Liberty High School, Bethlehem, PA, and entered Kutztown State College, where she met her future husband, John. They were married in 1949 and were together for 64 years.
In 1952, they moved from Pennsylvania to New Jersey where they raised their family. Caroline was a Deacon and active member of the First Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dover, NJ, and was a substitute teacher for twenty years for the Dover Board of Education.
In 1987, they retired to Slaughter Beach, Delaware. Caroline was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Milford and its Women's Association. She was also a member of the New Century Club of Milford, the Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Milford, and a volunteer at the Milford Hospital and Milford Museum. Caroline enjoyed square dancing, reading, knitting, needlework, quilting, and traveling: she had traveled to 47 states in the USA as well as abroad.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Huntzinger; granddaughter, Helen Ruth Huntzinger; and sister, Marjory Haack.
She is survived by her three sons, John Charles Huntzinger, Jr (Margaret), of Harrington, Delaware, Mark David Huntzinger, of Slaughter Beach, Delaware and Hugh Allyn Huntzinger (Margaret), of Denville, New Jersey; four grandchildren, John Joseph Huntzinger, Julia Hunt, Gray David Huntzinger, and Sarah Ann Huntzinger; as well as three great grandchildren, Camryn Hunt, Corbyn Hunt and Colton Hunt.
A Celebration of Caroline's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church of Milford, 101 S. Walnut Street, Milford, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Milford, 101 S. Walnut Street, Milford, DE 19963 or the Milford Museum, 121 S Walnut St, Milford, DE 19963.
