Carlton P. Lewis

DOVER - Carlton P. Lewis, Sr. passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at home. Mr. Lewis was born July 10, 1929 in Bridgeton, N.C. to the late Joseph W. Lewis and Hazel A. Jefferson Lewis. He served in the United States Air Force for 24 years. After the service Mr. Lewis went to work for the United States Postal Service retiring in 1993 after 13 years. Mr. Lewis was a member of the Masonic Lodge #7 AF and AM in Dover, the Shriner Lodge in New Bern, N.C., The Elks Lodge in Milford, Del. and the VFW Post 3238 in Camden/Wyoming, Del. He enjoyed all kinds of fishing, loved being out in the Bay in his boat. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Ruddock Lewis of Dover; son, Carlton "Bud" P. Lewis, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Kinston, N.C.; daughters, Rebecca Hovious and her husband Michael of Fayettville, N.C., Laurie Willer and her husband Ted of Clayton, N.C. and Ellen Waid and her husband Jeff of Dover, Del.; grandchildren, Amie' Jones and her husband Chris, Julie Francis and Kevin, Michael Hovious Jr. and his wife Alia, David Hovious and his wife Candice, Mandie McAtee and her husband Josh, Megan Waid and her husband Greg, Jenny Emory and Steve, Carla Hasse and her husband Greg; great-grandchildren, Caroline Jones, Perry Jones, Baby David Hovious, Jakob Hill, Zoey Emory, Landon Hasse, Annabel McAtee and two on the way. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, Del. 19901. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
