HARRINGTON - Carl "Gene" Anthony passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, surrounded by family at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was the son of the late Doris and Samuel Anthony, Sr.
Gene proudly served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Harrington American Legion and Harrington Moose Lodge.
Gene was a machinist with LD Caulk for 25 years before retiring.
Gene enjoyed car shows, piddling in the garage, and working on engines. He spent five years restoring his beloved '55 Chevy Bel Air. Gene enjoyed traveling on vacations, dancing, and hunting. He enjoyed life, never sat still and made sure to eat dessert first. Later in life he enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and ceramics.
Gene was first and foremost a family man. He loved spending time with his grandkids, was known to tease and antagonize all, yet was loving and protective. He was a great father figure to many in his life.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his two brothers, Samuel "Little Eddie" Anthony, Jr. and Lester Anthony.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beth Anthony; daughters, Heather Boyd (Wayne), Tammy Tribbett (Troy), Christina Cordova, and Rachelle Cordova (Dave); sisters, Elaine Anthony (Bill), Barbara Magruder (Randy); brother, Steve Anthony; grandchildren, Allison Tribbett, Luke Durham, and Vera Cordova; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will take place at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. A visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home one hour prior. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be payable to the Delaware Hospice, Inc., 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington. Visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to sign condolence book.
