DOWNSTATE — Cape Henlopen High will be favored to win the program’s 14th straight state title in this year’s DIAA girls’ lacrosse state tournament.

The Vikings (14-1), who are unbeaten against Delaware schools in the past 14 seasons, are the top seed in the 12-team state tourney bracket that was determined on Sunday.

Cape Henlopen, Sussex Academy and Caesar Rodney are the only Henlopen Conference teams in the field. The tournament starts with first-round games on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The top four seeds received first-round byes and won’t play until Saturday’s quarterfinals.

On Tuesday, seventh-seeded Caesar Rodney (13-2) will host No. 10 Wilmington Friends (7-8) at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Cape Henlopen will host a quarterfinal game at noon. The Vikings will face the winner of the first-round matchup between No. 8 Wilmington Charter (11-4) and No. 9 Saint Mark’s (10-4).

Fourth-seeded Sussex Academy (11-4) will also host a game at noon on Saturday. The Seahawks will face the winner of the first-round game between No. 5 Ursuline (9-4-1) and No. 12 Newark Charter (9-6).
