Cannon: Santos will help Seaford correct flawed decisions

Posted

In spite of some fine new blood on Seaford City Council (Dr. Stephanie Grassett, Allen Quillen and Mike Bradley), the mayor and council have continued some flawed decision-making practices far too similar to those of the old.

Examples include failure to review and correct the unfortunate “farmgate” closure of Magnolia Drive, to the consternation of the many residents of Reserves at Belle Ayre. Likewise, our new mayor and City Council have recently ignored requests and a $30,000 offer to relocate proposed water wells and a large water treatment plant from the golf course along Nylon Boulevard to a much more suitable location adjacent to the golf maintenance sheds on Sussex Avenue.

City Council veteran Jose Santos has both the experience and fortitude to address and resolve such questions/concerns with some better decision making.

Mr. Santos can help our new council renew scrutiny of the flawed farmgate decision, with a goal of making this bad situation better.

He can help correct flawed decision making to determine the best location for the $2.7 million water well/treatment plant project.

If you, like me, have tough questions/concerns needing answers/remedies and would like to have some high-quality help getting them, check out Jose Santos’ long record of insisting on better city governance and decision making.

On the record, Mr. Santos has previously served admirably on Seaford City Council, strongly advocating in favor of “one person, one vote,” following state laws, responding to constituents and promoting citizen input via public comment at council meetings. Jose Santos will not be a mere placeholder and, while extremely polite, will not just be a “go along to get along” representative.

Once again, Mr. Santos has thrown his hat into the ring for another round of helping make Seaford and its governance and decision making better.

If these kinds of character traits appeal to you as a voter, consider checking the box next to Jose Santos.

In any case, please mark your calendars for and vote in the city election, April 19 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in City Hall.
