WORTON – The Cambridge-South Dorchester High School varsity Vikings traveled to Kent County on Sept. 29, where they beat the Trojans, 16-6. C-SD’s record climbed to 3-2, while the Trojans’ fell to 0-5.

The game featured strong defensive play by the Vikings throughout, highlighted by Antonio Blueford’s 65-yard interception return. The offense scored all its points in the second quarter, led by a Teshar Drummond reception of quarterback Talan Middleton’s pass and Jaden Ferguson’s 72-yard run.

Trojan Jysir Valentine scored Kent County’s only touchdown.

A bright spot on the Vikings’ offense was the appearance of running back Jordan Williams. Despite being little used previously, Williams contributed solid running, especially in the third quarter. In the same quarter, wide receiver Tay’Mar Alexander, playing on defense, used his ball-catching skills to snag an interception and shut down a Trojans scoring drive.

Going into Week 6, with the playoffs approaching, the Vikings’ record shows mixed results. At home, they are 1-2, while in away games, the team is 2-0.

C-SD fell to Milford in the season opener at home, by a score of 32-6. The following week, the Vikes notched their only home win of the season so far, beating Snow Hill 48-12.

On Sept. 16, they won a thriller, 18-15, with a last-second touchdown at Bennett. In Week 4, they traveled to Kent Island, losing by 39-12.

Throughout their campaign, the Vikings have scored 104 points, while allowing 100. On Friday, they will be at home, facing Wicomico High School (3-2). The Indians play in the Bayside Athletic Conference’s 3A/2A division, where they have scored 175 points, allowing 55. They will come to Cambridge on a two-game losing streak, after falling to Stephen Decatur 13-12 on Sept. 24, and Kent Island last week, 28-13.

Game time is 6 p.m.
