Cambridge-South Dorchester High School presents ‘Into the Woods’

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge-South Dorchester High School 2022 Senior Class Play “Into the Woods” was performed over the weekend, to full houses. The play, which intertwines several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, was developed from the book by James Lapine, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The production was guided by Theater Teacher Edwin Talley Wilford.

The story follows a childless baker and his wife, played by John Condon and Anna Hyde, who are told by a witch (Luci Thomas) that if they wish to conceive, they must bring her four magical objects.

Over the course of their search, they meet Jack (Maximus Marshall), Red Riding Hood (Sa’Mara Spriggs) and Cinderella (Kejua Sampson) and become involved in their stories as well.

“While telling a story is simple, the complicated business of how to tell a story is where the collaborative alchemy of theater stirs,” Mr. Wilford said in a written statement. “The complete skillset of these seniors is on full display, and I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show like the one they’ve assembled.”

Other cast members were Victoria Lyons, Emily Todd, S. Raickle, Brooke Blades, Ian Henry, Jose Gonzalez, Kortney Manokey, Austin Windsor, Destin Green, Destinee Edmonds, Ja’kai Hall, Emily Hill, Josh Suggs, Anna Turner, Makayla Molock, Arlandis Martinez, Jackson Tieder, Hayden James, Roetato, and Katelyn Masden.

Crew members were E.T. Wilford, Laura Todd, Katelyn Masden, Sebastian Hurley, Roegan Bell, Jah’kai Hall, Maximus Marshall, Luci Thomas, Joey Everngam, Sa’Mara Spriggs, Alana Hurley, Colleen Carney, Jess Paguirian, Lizzie Wilford, Ben VanNest, Kasey Hart and Melissa Wise.

Cast and crew thanked the following contributors: Benefactors Elizabeth Bradley and Lydia Nelson; Angels Diane, Chris and Christina Hyde and Jennifer Grier; and Donors Mark and Geraldyn Brumley, Bill, Jeffrey and Angie Condon, and Virginia Hyde.

“Seniors, let this show forever remind you that you are capable of anything if you put in the work,” Mr. Wilford said.
