As a community service, the National Honor Society of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, in conjunction with the Blood Bank of Delmarva, is conducting a blood drive on Monday, May 1, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the school’s gym.
The basic requirements to donate are to be between ages 17-79, weigh at least 110 pounds, and bring a photo ID and proof of birthdate.
Schedule your appointment through this link: donate.bbd.org.
Remember, one donation can save up to three lives, and all donors will receive a T-shirt as a thank you.
Donors need to be in good health with no fever, sore throat, flu-like symptoms, recent major surgery, history of hepatitis or tattoo, piercing or branding received in the past three months.
Eat a good meal within three hours before giving blood, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid energy or caffeinated beverages.
If you have traveled outside the U.S., bring a list of countries and cities along with dates. Do not donate if you plan to participate in an athletic event on the day of the blood drive.
