CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge-South Dorchester High School boys’ basketball team finished the regular season on Thursday with a 73-65 victory over Talbot County rivals Easton. That win secured the North Bayside title for the Vikings, who ended their campaign with a record of 17-3.

“So proud of my guys!” Coach Romont Griffin wrote online. “In the preseason, we were ranked at the bottom, now we are here, North Bayside champs.”

Coach Griffin leads the young men with his brother, Marty Bailey. The pair have now completed two successful seasons with the team — last year, they finished 16-4.

The win Thursday came in typically exciting fashion, considering the intense and long-standing rivalry between the two schools. The game went into overtime before the Vikings took control on their home court.

“I would like to thank the school the parents and the fans for all the positive support,” Coach Griffin said.

Scorers for the Vikings were: Vejon Ashley, 28; Logan Middleton, 14; Donald Banks, 13; Tyrone Christian, 8; Acorie Young, 5; Dajawan Jackson, 3; and Davon Linder, 2.

Top scorers for Easton were: Grant Copper, 18; Shawn Warner, 15; and Ryan O’Connor and Max Vener, both with 10.
