Cambridge Rotary to fly flags on Memorial Day

Posted

CAMBRIDGE – The Cambridge Rotary Club is currently seeking sponsors for the flags that will be flying high over the Sailwinds Amphitheater again this Memorial Day. The 200 flags are a very visible symbol of our support for local heroes of all types. The goal is to have a name on every flag flying this year. A $50 donation will get the name of your hero on a plaque attached to a flag.

“It was so special to see children walking with their parents through our flag display, and individuals looking for the Flag they sponsored.” Said Judy Prahl, president of the Rotary Club during the inaugural placement of the flags last year.

The flags will be displayed at the top of the Visitor Center Amphitheater on Memorial Day Week and Weekend. There will also be a free concert in the Amphitheater on Friday evening to kick-off the Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial beginning of Summer. Get your flag sponsorship in and come out Friday evening to listen to music, enjoy fellowship and visit the flag display.

“There is no county on Delmarva that can do a display of flags like we do.” says Rob Collison, current President of the Cambridge Rotary Club. “The Sailwinds Amphitheater is the perfect spot to place flags to Honor Our Heroes.”

You can get a sponsorship form from any Rotarian, at the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, or on-line at dorchesterchamber.org/ads/flagsforheroes. Donation is tax deductible and proceeds will be used for scholarships for returning Veterans.
