Conveyor belt manufacturer offers free services, workshops and lunch from mobile showroom

CAMBRIDGE – Cambridge Engineered Solutions (CES), the world’s largest manufacturer of metal conveyor belts for industrial and food processing, today launched the first of a series of road trips to introduce the company’s newest product lines and services from a rolling showroom. Named the “Heavy Metal Tour,” CES will visit 30 customers on its inaugural six-week leg, Oct. 6-Nov. 15, with stops in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.

Departing from the company’s headquarters on Maryland’s Eastern Shore on Oct. 6, the Heavy Metal bus is outfitted with a mobile showroom, workshop and technical library and lunch counter. The 25-foot vehicle is adorned with the Heavy Metal tour logo and super graphics of CES belts.

“The Heavy Metal Tour is a great opportunity for our talented sales and service team to go on the road and connect with long-standing customers and new clients, to showcase our latest innovations for the food processing industry,” said Tracy Tyler, Cambridge CEO. “This creative outreach program demonstrates our motto - Fun People, Serious Solutions.”

The first leg of what is anticipated to be multiple road trips to manufacturing plants, schools and special events in 2015. Heavy Metal stops include end users, distributors and OEMs.

The C. & K. Lord Company of Cambridge, helped customized the tour bus. The metal fabrication specialist and frequent Cambridge Engineered Solutions collaborator modified the vehicle to include steel mesh and wire cloth cladding from Cambridge Architectural, a sister division to CES. C. & K. also fashioned the signature metal fabrics into counters, cabinets, shelves and tables inside the bus.

At each stop along the tour, CES engineers and product specialists will provide conveyor evaluations, conduct technical workshops and preview new capabilities for the food processing and industrial markets. The sales and engineering teams will also deliver lunch featuring popular products made on Cambridge belts by such well-known brands as H&S Bakery and Pepsico.
