Cambridge Coin Show returns this Saturday

On Saturday, the Cambridge Coin Show will celebrate its 50th anniversary at American Legion 91. Although it’s been only three years since it was last put on, organizer Erick Windsor calls this year’s show a “revival.”

“There hasn’t been a bigger attendance in dealers since I was a kid,” he said. “I have been able to recruit a lot of quality dealers that are excited to be part of the show.”

This free event will feature approximately 15 dealers from across the state and as far away as New Jersey. They will be selling, buying and trading U.S. and foreign coins and paper money as well as tokens and related collectibles. Some items will be inexpensive (but interesting) for novice collectors while the rare offerings will attract experienced buyers.

A treat for area residents is the small exhibit of Cambridge money and banking items on display.

The show was founded in 1972 by the Cambridge Coin Club, who put it on annually through 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic led the club to disband, but Windsor picked up the torch this year to continue a local tradition and give something back to the community.

“I started going to the show in 2005 when I began collecting coins,” he said. “As a teenager, it was one of the only ways for me to obtain different coins.”

After he became a coin dealer in 2015, this event allowed him to build relationships with other dealers and collectors. He went into business for himself in 2021 as Windsor Coin & Currency, which has set up at roughly 50 shows so far. With a strong background in collectibles and antiques, he provides expertise and experience in everything from appraisals to collection liquidation across Delmarva.

Windsor continues to be a collector himself and contributes to his hobby by writing articles and encouraging young people to become interested. In fact, he urges attendees to bring their kids to the show.

“I hope that this event helps spark someone else’s interest in a hobby that has had a big impact in my life,” he said.

The Cambridge Coin Show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday at American Legion 91, located at 98 Sunburst Highway. For more information, contact Erick Windsor at 443-515-0311 or windsorscoin@gmail.com.
