MILFORD - Calvin Leroy Curtiss, passed away June 16, 2011, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Calvin was born on July 14, 1928, in Elsmere, the son of the late Robert E. and Besse (Hurd) Curtiss. He was a corporal in the United States Army. Everyone knew Calvin and there were no strangers. He loved to tease and laugh. He retired from Bennett Machine Company after 45 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Phyllis Curtiss in 2008; four sisters, Besse, Dorothy, Doris and Mary; and two brothers. He is survived by a son, Steve Curtiss and his wife Dawn; and a daughter, Kathy Gove and her husband Mark, all of Harrington; ten grandchildren, Christine Curtiss of Harrington, Greg Curtiss and his wife Erin of Felton, Billy Brown of Harrington, Natalee Milburn of Millsboro, Nicole Curtiss, stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, Jesse Gove and his wife Cherry of Wilmington, Kyle Gove, stationed with the U.S. Marines in Missouri, Steven Gove and his wife Melanie of Milford, William Gove and Danielle Gove, both of Harrington; four great-grandchildren Christen Wilhelm, Jonathan Carey, Gabrielle Carter, and Jenna Ann Curtiss; and a special friend, Marie Passwaters of Houston. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington, where friends may call on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington.
