GREENWOOD - Byron K. Outten passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at Tidal Health at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, Delaware.
He was born on November 2, 1957 in Milford, Delaware; the son of the late Alvin Harrington Outten and Rosalee Fox Outten.
He attended Woodbridge School until his senior year when he graduated from Georgetown Christian School with the class of 1975. He later earned his Bachelor's degree in Religious Education from Spirit and Life Bible College in Elkton, Md. It was there he met the love of his life, Lorna Outten, who he remained married to for 43 years.
He was a master plumber and operated Bryon Outten's Plumbing Service in Greenwood for many years. He had a loyal following of clients and customers who he treated like his very own family. Known for his love of people and serving others, Byron would always help friends and family in need. Many times you would find him helping widow's, orphans, and single parents with needs around the house, looking after children, and assuring there would be Christmas for many area kids.
He was a member of the Connection Church in Laurel. He was always actively involved in church throughout his life, teaching Sunday School, leading worship and playing guitar and often preaching. In his free time, Byron loved to golf, play softball, and watch sports, especially cheering on the New York Giants and Baltimore Orioles. For decades, he wowed friends with his ability to walk on his hands. His years of kindness and generosity has left ripples throughout the community in the countless lives he touched. He adored his wife and family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was like a Father to many.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna MacDonald Outten of Greenwood; four children, Lillian West and her fiancée Michael Williams of Arlington, Vt., Julleanna Seely and her husband Adrian of Greenwood, Cameron Outten of Rehoboth Beach, and Aaron Outten and his girlfriend Emily Schrock of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Gabriel West, Sophie West, Adria Seely, Asher West, Johanna Seely, and Judah Seely; and a sister, Bonnie Outten Pettit and her husband Keith of Harrington and her daughters Shannon and Abby Haney; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Byron's Life will be held on Monday, December 10, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Greenwood Mennonite Church in Greenwood. Interment will follow at Saint Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 9, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Monday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The family respectfully requires everyone in attendance to be healthy and wear masks. Livestream of Monday's service will be available for those who are unwell or unable to attend. We want to celebrate Dad in the safest way we can.
Services entrusted to the Framptom Funeral Home - Fleischauer Chapel in Greenwood. Share memories with the family at www.framptom.com
