Moffett, 66 Dover – Ret. Major Bruce N. Moffett, died April 27, 2012, at home after a two year battle with cancer. Bruce was born on Aug. 23, 1945 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Dr. James B. and Dorothy Moffett. He graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville Md. and received a B.B.A. degree from Memphis State University in 1969. Bruce enlisted in the Air Force after graduation. He attended Officer Training School and trained as a navigator. He served in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. He served as navigator on the C-141 Starlifter and the C5 Galaxy. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and The Bronze Star. He retired in 1993. After retirement Bruce joined the Civil Service and worked at Dover AFB until he was 65. Bruce married Judy Thomas in 1967 and produced three wonderful sons, Bruce who is married to Corrie, Jason who is married to Stephanie Werner and Tom who is partnered with Roger Richards. He also has four fantastic grandchildren, Matthew, Rebekah, Brandon and Kristin. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. James B. Moffett and his brother David Moffett. Bruce is survived by his brothers, James and Mike and by his mom, Dorothy Grant who is "still hangin in there". A private family service will be held for Bruce on Wednesday, May 2nd. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
