Bruce David Parsons

Bruce David Parsons, age 83, of Dover passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Parsons was born February 16, 1941 in Lenior, North Carolina to the late Bennie H. Parsons and Irene Walch Parsons.
He worked for 27 years as a science teacher at Milford High School. After his retirement he worked at the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation. Mr. Parsons enjoyed his workshop, working on his yard, jazz music but especially spending time with his family and grandchild. He was a former member of the Lions and Elks Clubs. Mr. Parsons had also authored numerous science focused workbooks and just loved teaching.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Rosemary George and Judith Underdown.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Spiering Parsons of Dover; daughter, Amy Retzlaff and her husband Peter of Smyrna; sister, Lynda Brackett of The Villages, FL and grandchild, Madison Retzlaff, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 11AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. A visitation will be held one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Delaware Teacher Academy Foundation.
