Bruce B. Murray, 69 MIDDLETOWN - Bruce B. Murray, 69, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, surrounded by his family. Born at home in Summit Bridge, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Florence Hepburn Murray. Mr. Murray graduated from Middletown High School in 1957. He retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542 after 38 years working as a crane operator. Since retirement he spent many happy hours in the company of St. Andrews School students and staff providing transportation and enjoyed being an important part of the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC family for more than 13 years. Mr. Murray was a Past Master of Union Lodge 5, AF & AM Masonic Lodge of Middletown, a member of the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, Townsend Volunteer Fire Company and the Townsend Cemetery Board of Directors. He always had a smile on his face and a joke or story to share. Mr. Murray enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandchildren, fishing and traveling to lighthouses across the country. Mr. Murray was often found with a camera on his shoulder documenting life's important events. He was always there when he was needed and never turned his back on a friend in need. Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Jane Lee Murray, in March of this year and by his sister, Christiana Murray and brothers, R. Charles and Joseph W. Murray. He is survived by three children, Debbie Murray-Sheppard and her husband, Rick of Wilmington, Scott Murray and his wife Kim Oxenrider Murray, of Boulder City, Nev., and Timothy Murray and his wife Amy Friday Murray, of Middletown; his seven precious grandchildren, Brie, Brooke and Bryce Sheppard, Ryan and Shaun Murray, Patrick O'Haire, and Tyler Murray. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Shaffner, Elizabeth A. Henderson, Patricia Barcus, and Sabina M. Moffitt, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday in the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 North Board Street, Middletown, DE, with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday in Immanuel Methodist Church, 209 W. Main Street, Townsend. Interment will follow at Townsend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bruce's memory to Union Lodge No. 5, P.O. Box 371, Middletown, DE, 19709-0371.
