Brooke Cynthia Davis, 17

MAGNOLIA - Brooke Cynthia Davis, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, from injuries sustained in a automobile accident. She was 17. Brooke was born on Oct. 17, 1991 in Dover, daughter of Edward J. Davis and Jody (Jensen) Vasey. She was a junior at Caesar Rodney High School in Dover where she enjoyed athletics participating as a member of the field hockey team wearing the number four on the front line and ran track and field competing in the 400 yard and 800 meter relay. In addition to being a full time student, Brooke was an active member of the Kent County 4-H and the Houston Cardinal 4-H Club where she was involved in cooking and sewing. She earned many 4-H awards and was recognized for her outstanding community service. She looked forward to entering some of her projects each year in the exhibits at the Delaware State Fair. She also worked part time at the LaFontana Italian Restaurant in Magnolia. Brooke was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford and taught Sunday school classes. God sent us a beautiful angel 17 years ago. Brooke enjoyed days at the beach, painting, cooking, sewing, crafts, running, field hockey and shopping but above everything, she loved playing with her young siblings. Her siblings have been told that God wanted Brooke to be in heaven to help with the young children there. She dreamed of teaching young children and having a large family. We will miss her wholesome spirit, her loving ways and her giving of herself. She is survived by her father, Edward J. Davis of Magnolia; her mother and stepfather, Jody and Dean Vasey of Lincoln; a brother, Reece A. Davis of Magnolia; three sisters, Spring M. Vasey, Lake E. Vasey and Rain A. Vasey, all at home in Lincoln; her paternal grandfather, Richard J. Davis and his wife Linda J. of Frederica; her paternal grandmother, Evelyn McGhee and her husband Mark of Felton; her maternal grandfather, James F. Jensen and his companion Silvia Jones of Camden; her maternal grandmother, Sandy Reynolds and her husband Ted of Frederica; her step-grandparents, Dan and Kathy Vasey of Greenwood; her maternal greatgrandfather, Lloyd P. Hopkins of Preston, Md., and her paternal greatgrandmother, Jane R. Davis of Syracuse, N.Y. and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held at noon Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford. Burial was held in Barratts Chapel Cemetery in Frederica. Instead of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Kent County 4-H, 69 Transportation Circle, Dover, DE, 19901.
