SEAFORD- Brenda Bradley Shimek, age 73, of Seaford, formerly of Secretary, Md., died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Born January 11, 1938 in Cambridge, Md., she was the daughter of the Earl Nelson Bradley, Sr. and Golda Leona Cook Bradley. In 1972, she retired from Dorchester General hospital after working twenty years as a LPN. She was a former member and past president of Hurlock American Legion Post #243 Ladies Auxiliary. She attended the Christian Church of Seaford and was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Secretary. She is survived by two daughters, Sheri L. Phillips and her husband Rusty of East New Market, Md., and Nancy L. Shimek of Clayton; two grandsons, Christopher Bradley Phillips and Joshua Russell Phillips; a great-granddaughter, Zoella Amber Phillips; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. Shimek who died on November 18, 1995; and a brother, Earl Nelson Bradley, Jr. Funeral services will 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Secretary where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Kreek and Minister John Herbst will officiate. Interment will follow in East New Market Cemetery. The Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market is handling the arrangements.
