CAMBRIDGE - Lt. Justin Todd of the Cambridge Police Department has announced that at 9 p.m. tonight on the Investigation Discovery channel, a Cambridge case will be featured on the program titled, "Murder Calls."

"The episode that will air is about a case that occurred in Cambridge back in 2004, the Tyshika Askins homicide," Lt. Todd said in an email to The Banner. "Myself, Chief Lewis and State’s Attorney Bill Jones will be on the show along with a couple others, including family of the victim."

"We have been also filmed for another show airing later in July on the Oxygen network called, “Fatal Attraction” which will be in reference to the same case," he said.

In June of 2004, 22-year-old Tyshika Askins was found dead in her Cambridge apartment. In 2006, Richard Blanks Sr. was convicted of her murder and imprisoned after his DNA was found under Ms. Askins fingernails.

The victim's family, while praising the work of law enforcement, feels that there may be others still free who were involved in Ms. Askins' killing. They hope that by publicizing the case, answers will be found.
