Bowden: Lack of transparency should equal lack of voter support

Posted

Transparency, complete honesty and a full understanding are essential for a healthy democracy (“Question of the Week: How do campaign finance reports impact your voting decisions?"). When candidates for office are being supported by various groups or individuals, they have an obligation to follow campaign finance laws and disclose their sources of funding. This way, voters can make informed decisions based on the values and interests of the candidates and their supporters.

Without transparency, complete honesty and a full understanding, there is a risk of corruption, influence peddling and hidden agendas that undermine the public trust and the legitimacy of the electoral process. I would not support any candidates that would not be in full compliance.
