Blanche M. Jones

Blanche M. Jones, 88 GEORGETOWN - Blanche M. Jones, 88, of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, Feb.y 13, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Concord, to the late Irvin and Lillian Waller Jefferson. Mrs. Jones worked at the Stockley Center, Georgetown for 30 years until her retirement in 1982. She worked as a home health aide after retirement and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro and previously was a member of Hickory Hill U.M. Church, Millsboro, Wren Baptist Church, Piedmont, S.C., and Concord U.M. Church, Concord. She loved children, animals, and traveling. Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters, Dianna M. Sanders and husband Harold of Liberty, S.C., and Mildred A. Whaley of Georgetown; a brother, Roland Henry Jefferson of Michigan; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Jones Sr. in 1978; her son, Joseph Jr. in 1964; her daughter, Gladys in 1996; two brothers, Raymond and Leroy; and three sisters, Peggy, Edna, and Annabelle. Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior. Rev. Harold Sander will officiate the service. Interment will be in Millsboro Cemetery. Letters of condolence may be emailed via www.watsonfh.com.
