GALENA, Md. - Blanch W. Walters, of Galena, died Monday, May 5, 2008, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown. She was 96.
Mrs. Walters was born on Jan. 23, 1912, in Cecil County, daughter of the late George and Clara Nickerson Williams.
Since her marriage in 1941, she and her husband owned and operated Windy Curve Farm, a Century Farm in Galena, and were known for their brown eggs and raising turkeys.
Mrs. Walters also clerked for nearly 50 years with Rudnick's auction.
Mrs. Walters has been a member of Olivet United Methodist Church for 81 years, active with the United Methodist Women.
She was a member of Kent County Farm Bureau, and helped with the Upper Bay Ruritan and Galena Lions Clubs.
Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, E. Clark Walters Sr.; and her son Edward C. Walters Jr., both in 2007; and two sisters, Eva Jarvis and Margaret Williams.
She is survived by her son, G. Richard Walters; daughter-in-law, Edwina "Winnie" Walters; and two grandsons, David Walters and his wife Roxanne and son Matthew, and Dennis Walters and his wife Kari and their children Elizabeth, Gracie, and Michael, all of Galena.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Olivet United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Galena.
Burial will be in Galena Cemetery.
