BLADES — A 39-year-old Blades man was charged with third offense DUI after an initial domestic disturbance call early Thursday, Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Darren Lester said.

According to authorities, Quanteve L. Hanzer had been involved in a verbal dispute with family members that escalated into a physical altercation with family members. Police said Mr. Hanzer left the scene on East Second Street before troopers arrived. Police received the call at approximately 1:07 a.m., Sgt. Lester said.

Police said Mr. Hanzer was located driving a vehicle and failed to comply with an attempted traffic stop by troopers. He returned to the residence and was taken into custody, authorities said.

A strong odor of alcoholic beverages was allegedly detected as Mr. Hanzer spoke, and additional investigation ensued, police said.

Mr. Hanzer was also charged with noncompliance with conditions of bond, terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, driving while suspended, and offensive touching (two counts). He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and then committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in lieu of $10,300 secured bail.
