Beulah M. Gray

DOVER - Beulah M. Gray, 92, of Dover, died on August 16, 2010, at Kent General Hospital, Bayhealth. Beulah was born in Milford, to Floyd Thomas and Violet Shockley on July 1, 1918. She retired from the Department of State, Foreign Services Division, after 32 years of service. During this service she lived and worked in many European countries over a period of 9 years. Beulah was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. church in Dover for 50 years. There she was a Missionary, a Lay member, Secretary of the Official Board for 30 years, and a Deaconess. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Gray; sisters Marion Reed (Gus) and Doris Harris (William). Beulah is survived by a step-niece, Harriet Redd; niece, Margaret Washington; nephews, Everett Bruce, Victor Harris, Patrick Harris, Louis Shockley (Bobbie), William Wilson (Iris), and Paul Wilson (Idel). She is also survived by best friends, Rev. Jean Sudler, Sandy Mifflin, Hazel Showell, Emma Ingram, Rebecca and Emory Gordon, and Gerre Depp. Services will be Monday, August 23, 2010, from 10 a.m. to noon for visitation and a noon funeral at Mt. Zion A.M.E. church, 101 N. Queen St., Dover. Interment will follow at the Whatcoat Cemetery. Arrangements by Minus Funeral Home. Online condolences can be sent to minusfh@verizon.net.
