Betty P. Hollis

SEAFORD - Betty P. Hollis, of Seaford, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011. She was 88. Mrs. Hollis was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Greensboro, Md., to the late Elmer Russum and Addie George Russum. Mrs. Hollis was a homemaker who enjoyed breeding dogs (Great Danes). She liked to travel loved to read and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Mrs. Hollis especially enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren for family get togethers. Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her husband, Thad W. Hollis, Sr. in 1985 and seven brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hollis is survived by her three sons, John Hollis Sr. and his wife Toni of Felton, Larry Hollis and his wife Donna of Seaford, and David Hollis of Felton; her daughter, Thaddea Cartwright of Laurel; her brother, Robert Russum of Stafford, N.Y.; her sister, Phoebe Mayes of Wilmington; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon road (rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
