Betty L. Newnum, 81 PEARCE, Ariz. - Betty L. Newnum of Pearce, Arizona, formerly of Smyrna, Delaware passed away Thursday July 15, 2010. She was 81. Mrs. Newnum was born July 1, 1929, in Dover, the daughter of the late Andrew Patterson, Sr. and Nora Bradley Patterson. She worked as a nurses aide for the State of Delaware at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna for several years before retiring in 1986. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis G. Newnum, Sr.; and a daughter, Nora Newnum. Mrs. Newnum is survived by three sons, Curtis G. Newnum, Jr. of Tierra Verde, Fla., Blain Newnum of Smyrna, and Randy Newnum, Sr. of Cochise, Ariz.; a brother, Alan Patterson of Woodside; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Friday, July 23, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.
