Betty Jane Sourbeck

Betty Jane Sourbeck, 81 LEWISTOWN, Pa. - Betty Jane Sourbeck, went to be with her Lord at 8:59 a.m, Friday, February 26, 2010, in the Golden Living Center-William Penn. She was 81. Born November 30, 1928 in Mt. Union, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Merle H. and Beulah (Mills) Sowers. Betty was employed as a nurses aide at the William Penn Nursing Home for 11 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Lewistown C&MA Church and was an avid bowler. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry F. Pearce in 1973 and John P. Sourbeck in 1985; an infant daughter, Penny Gale Pearce in 1958; brothers, Merle Jr., Theodore and Donald Sowers; and sisters, Qulah and Darlene Sowers. Betty is survived by her children, Kathy D. Pearce of Harrington, Harry F. Pearce Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Lewistown, Pa. and Terry L. Pearce of Lewistown, Pa.; grandchildren, Angela Pearce, Harry F. Pearce III and Marjorie K. Lynch; a great-grandchild, Logan Patrick Lynch; her brother, Howard Sowers and his wife, Erma and Newton Hamilton; and her sisters, Blanche Snyder, and Orbisonia and Helen Moore of Three Springs. A Memorial Service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lewistown C&MA Church, 50 Hudson Avenue, with the Rev. John Looney officiating. Private interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery. There will be no public viewing, however, family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lewistown C&MA Church Youth Ministries, 50 Hudson Avenue, Lewistown, PA 17044.
