Betty Jane Melvin, 67
FLAT ROCK, N.C. - Betty Jane Melvin, of Flat Rock, and formerly of Smyrna, Del., went home to be with the LORD on Saturday, April 18, 2009. She was 67. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen Solloway. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Melvin Sr., and sisters, Patricia Solloway, Shirley Leager, and Louise Pierson. She is survived by a son, William Melvin Jr.; two daughters, Cheryl Wright and her husband Robert, and Sandra Campbell and her husband Kenny; five brothers, Fletcher, Jack, Jim, Robert, and Earl Solloway; three sisters, Audrey Clough, Bonnie Lightcap, and Sharon Dempsey; and eight grandchildren, Phillip, Robert, Tabitha, Savannah, and Justine Wright, William Cole, and Melissa and Christopher Campbell. Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and a caring and compassionate friend to all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Betty's greatest joy was found in serving God and her family. She was known for her gentle humble spirit and loving nature. Funeral Services and burial will be privately held for family and close friends.
