DOVER - Betty J. Addis was born on May 5, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Robert and Evelyn Goodrich. On April 20, 2011, she died peacefully at her home in Dover in her sleep after battling lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, her children, and grandchildren. She moved back to Dover after living three years in Akin, S.C., with her daughter. She was active in church, The Willow Grove Church of God, where she played the piano and had a great love for the Lord and her church family. Betty was also active with children. She had worked with cub scouts, and the Welcome Wagon while living in Pennsylvania, girl scouts, and was a proud member of the Foster Grandparents, and the Modern Maturity Center while here in Dover. Betty loved going down memory lane, looking thru pictures, and spending time with her eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Betty was a person that would reach out with love and compassion to anyone she met. After being with her for only a few minutes, you left with warmth and smiles. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Robert W. Goodrich Sr.; mother, Evelyn Marie Morris (Goodrich) Carr; her first husband, Earl R. Snyder in 1967; second husband, John W. Addis in 1980; and her daughter, Linda M. Marshall in 2008. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, Robert W. Goodrich Jr. and wife Lorreta of Perry Hall, Md.; sons, Earl Kidd and wife Betty of Smyrna, Michael Snyder and wife Denise of Dover, and Richard Snyder of Dover; and son-in-law, Charles Marshall of Wagener, S.C. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Willow Grove Church of God, off Route 10, where a viewing will be held two hours prior. Interment will be in Greenridge Memorial Cemetery, Connellsville, Pa., on Monday, April 25, with a short viewing at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice (VITAS) or the Modern Maturity Center, Dover. Arrangements by Trader Funeral Home. Letters of condolence may be sent to traderfh@aol.com or www.delmarvaobits.com. DE-Betty-Addis.jpg/
