Betty Irene Meekins

GOLTS, Md. - Betty Irene Meekins, "Betty Boop" 72 of Golts, Md., passed away on August 19, 2016 at home. Betty was born on September 14, 1943 in Rock Hall, Md., daughter of the late James E. and Molly George White. She was raised in Rock Hall and was a 1961 graduate of Rock Hall High School. After her marriage she moved to Townsend and later lived in Millington and Virginia before making her home in Golts 20 years ago. Betty worked auctions (as a clerk and packer), and she was known in Galena as a clerk at Galena Liquor's and a cook at Billy's Restaurant. She enjoyed yard sales and reading. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, Tony Reynolds; half-brothers, Henry and Thomas Chadwick; and half-sister, Mary Patrick. Betty is survived by her brother, James Harry White of Still Pond; sisters, June Pinder of Smyrna, and Helen Fletcher of Dover; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md. Burial will be held privately in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
