ELLENDALE - Betty C. Wimer, of Ellendale, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 83. Betty was born in Rough Run, W.Va., daughter of the late Verley Clay and Grace Sara (Shook) Westfall. Betty was a homemaker and had also enjoyed working at the Milford Tastee Freez and Milford Diner, many years ago. She loved flowers, traveling and cooking. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wimer; two sisters, Daisey and Verda; and two brothers, Grover and Lloyd. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lurdy Wimer; seven children, Robert Wimer and wife Suzanne Barber, David Wimer and wife Carey, Jimmy Wimer and wife Helen, Patricia Dickerson and husband Donald, Diana Messick and husband Francis, Betty Jean Wisseman and husband Doc and Barbara Watkins; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leroy and Lawrence Westfall. A funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.
