Betty Ann Porter

WOODSIDE - Betty Ann Porter passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 60. Betty was born on Oct. 10, 1950, in Newton, Miss., daughter of the late Stanley and Willard (Breazeale) Brand. She had worked as a State Administrative Specialist for Health and Social Services. Betty enjoyed flower gardening and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Stanley Seward, and Johnnie Lee Seward. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Jimmy Porter; a son, Jason Porter of Woodside; and a daughter, Margaret Wagner and her husband John of Smyrna; a brother, Ralph Wilkes of Noxapater, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Brandon Seward, Christian Walt and Rachel Wagner; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Georgie McKnight and her husband Brian and their five children. A memorial service will be 6 p.m., today, Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may gather from 5:20 p.m. until service time. Burial will be private in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633.
