NEW CASTLE - Bessie McKinney, 80, of New Castle, died Nov. 13, 2011, at Christiana Medical Center. She was born in Willowgrove, Del., the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Glanden. She was preceded in death by her late husband William John McKinney. She is the last of 6 siblings. She was a homemaker and loved flowers and gardening. She is survived by five children, Douglas McKinney, Diane Cover (Bill), Mark and Joseph McKinney and Loisann DeBenedictis (John); and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, where friends may call Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in the ICU at Christiana Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford, to help defray funeral costs.
