Bernadine L. Soyster, 89 CAMDEN - Bernadine L. Soyster, 89, of Camden, formerly of Altoona, Pa., died Saturday afternoon Nov. 28, 2009, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was born May 20, 1920, in State College, Pa., a daughter of the late Edgar J. and Thelma (Weaver) Rossman. She married James L. Soyster on June 12, 1942, in Altoona, Pa. He preceded her in death July 2, 1968. Surviving are a son, Steven K. Soyster and his wife Cheryl of Camden; a daughter Carolyn J. Kersey and her husband Harvey C. of Camden; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister Evelyn Page of Palmetto, Fla.; a brother, Marion Rossman of Uniontown, Ohio; a sister, Helen Dempsey of Lawrenceville, N.J.; and a brother, Kenneth Rossman of Kenton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Soyster; and a sister, Lois Rossman. Mrs. Soyster was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Altoona, and a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Dover. Bernadine was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, with Pastor Bill Pepper officiating. Interment will be made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth Street, Altoona, PA 16602; or to Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 1160 East Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901. A memorial service is planned for a future date at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Dover.
