Benny Divita, 35

DOVER - Benny Divita of Dover passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008. He was 35.

Benny was born Feb. 6, 1973, in Dover, to Frank and Jackie Divita.

He worked for the state of Delaware as park manager and water park manager at Killens Pond.

Benny was coach and lifeguard at Kent Swim Club; lifeguard, swim team coach and aquatic director at YMCA of Dover; Dover High School swim team head coach; CPR and lifeguard instructor for 15 years; member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Dover; and member of Dover Elks, BPOE 1903, where he served on the House Committee.

He was the recipient of an award from the state of Delaware for saving several lives.

Benny enjoyed working with children and was an avid Eagles fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benny and Mary Divita and Albert and Dorothy Hurley.

Benny is survived by his wife, Jennifer Divita of Dover; his expected son in one month, Beckett Divita; parents, Frank and Jackie Divita of Dover; a brother, Frank Divita Jr. of Springfield, Va.; a sister, Debbie Ludeman of Leesburg, Va.; nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Dustin, Sarah and Amanda; many godchildren; father-in-law and his wife, James Jr. and Joy Ferguson; mother-in-law and her husband, Grace and Charles Courtney; brothers-in-law, Ben and Adam Dulin, Matthew Ferguson and John Ludeman; sisters-in-law, Theresa Soja and Janet Divita; and grandparents-in-law, James and Jeannette Ferguson.

Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Memorial contributions may be made to the B. Divita Memorial Fund, Wachovia Bank, 100 N. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
