Bennetta Walls Spady

MILFORD - Bennetta Walls Spady, of Milford, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at her home. She was 85. Bennetta was born in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late, Melvin A. and Shirley (Mendenhall) Bennett. She was a kennel owner, raising Chihuahuas. She was known as the dog lady of Betts Kennel. She enjoyed attending yard sales and auctions and also enjoyed fishing. She owned the Double B Auction along with her first husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William G. Walls Sr.; her second husband, Christopher Spady; a daughter, Linda Walls Wolf; a sister, Wilma Fodor; and a brother, Bud Burns. She is survived by her three children, JoAnn Webb and Shirley Collins, both of Milford, and William G. Walls, Jr. of Georgetown; two brothers, Bob Mendenhall of Milford, and James Burns of Georgetown; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St, Milford, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Georgetown. Contributions may be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
