Barbara S. Rider, 70

DOVER - Barbara S. Rider, of Dover, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover. She was 70. Mrs. Rider was born in Bessemer, Ala., on April 25, 1939, to the late James A. and Gussie Carstander Hand. She moved to Dover in 1977 and was the manager of the Gift Design Galleries in the Dover Mall for 15 years. She was a member of the Potter's House Pentecostal Church of Dover and a devoted Grandmother. Mrs. Rider is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ronald Lee Rider; three sons, Jim "Moochie" Rider and his wife Cheryl of Dayton, Ohio, Milton "Mickey" Rider and his wife Karen of Dover, and Ronald W. Rider and his wife Ann also of Dover; and a daughter, Tena R. Rider of Las Vegas, Nev. Also surviving are two sisters, Janice Studdard of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Ruby Thompson of Clarksville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, James R., Jessica M., Ronnie, and Natalie. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009. at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to The Potter's House Pentecostal Church, 1030 S. Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19904.
