DOVER - Barbara Moran Mackie formerly of Moody, Maine died March 19, 2016 at State Street Assisted Living in Dover. She was born on Sept. 12, 1915, in Pittsfield, Mass., to Charles and Laura Moran. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1932 and attended Berkshire Business College. She married John H. Mackie in 1938. She was employed at General Electric for several years. She left to raise her family and then she worked at the Berkshire Medical Center. She later joined her husband in operating F.D. Retallick Electrical Contracting Company. She and her husband retired to Moody, Maine in 1978. For many years she was the clerk and secretary of the Ogunquit Baptist Church and was also a member. She was widowed in 2001 and moved to Delaware in 2006. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, spending time with her family, and reading. She was a Boston sports fan, and loved the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox. She was President of the Resident Council of State Street for many years until her death. At her hundredth birthday party she was presented with a certificate from the City of Dover by Mayor Robin Christiansen. She received greetings from the Obamas, Willard Scott, and dozens of friends and family. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Britton) Ransford of Sequim, Wash. and Jacqueline (Joseph) Koniencki of Dover; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her family wishes to thank the staff of State Street Assisted Living for their kindness and service for the past 10 years. They are grateful to Seasons Hospice for helping with her care also during the past few months. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that she be remembered by doing something kind for an elderly person. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
