Barbara Elsie Failing Brown

Elsie Failing Brown, 79 DOVER - Barbara (Bobbie) Elsie Failing Brown, 79, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford with her family. She was born on Aug. 5, 1932, in Ridgely, Md., to the late Ralph Boyce and Dorothy Elsie French Failing. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years at different area churches. She loved music and played the organ and piano as well as sang. She loved to read and established a library of treasured books. She enjoyed beautiful flowers and had a talent for flower arranging. Barbara was very proud of her 32 years of service as a Secretary for the State of Delaware. Barbara (Bobbie) was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend who had an incredible giving spirit. Her legacy will live as a woman of great compassion, generosity, kindness, love and dedication. She made a special mark on this world and will be dearly remembered. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Wilson H. Brown of Dover; son, Robert Brown and his wife Stephanie of Middletown; son, Kevin Brown and his wife Rylynn of Goldsboro, Md.; daughter, Beth Brown of Wilmington; and seven grandchildren, Kevin Brown Jr., Victoria Brown, Alexander Brown, Zachary Brown, Zoe Brown, William Brown, and Ian Brown. In addition, she is survived by brother, Boyce Failing and his wife Margaret of Wyoming; sister, Joan Swain and her husband Richard of Georgetown; and sister, Ruth Ellen Finch of Bridgeville. Remembrance services will be noon, Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Trader Funeral Home in Dover. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden. Friends may also call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Trader Funeral Home, Dover. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106; or via the website at alz.org.
