DOVER - Barbara Cumming Hadley passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021. Formerly of West Chester, PA and North Plainfield, NJ, Barbara was born on August 13, 1928, to the late Kenneth Cumming and Bernice Ellerbeck. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1946 and earned an associate degree in retail from Lasell College in 1948. Barbara married her beloved husband, George Hadley, in 1950 and following his death in 1960, Barbara attended night school at Kean College to earn her BA in Elementary Education. She taught first grade for 25 years in Middlesex, NJ.
Upon retiring, Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. After moving to Dover, she enjoyed working on volunteer projects for Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with her daughter, Janice.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, George Hadley, and son, Bruce Hadley. Survivors include her children, Janice Hadley of Dover, Karen McKenna of West Chester, PA and Brian Hadley of Newark; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Interment in New Jersey will be private. A memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday October 16, 2021, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Services will be live streamed on Torbert Funeral Chapel's https://www.torbertfuneral.com/
