Athlete of the Week: Shelby Manlove, Sussex Academy lacrosse
GEORGETOWN — Sussex Academy girls’ lacrosse player Shelby Manlove was voted this week’s State News Athlete of the Week.
The junior midfielder netted 10 goals and three assists in the Seahawks’ last two wins, including a 12-9 victory over defending DIAA state champion Tatnall. Manlove has been on Sussex Academy’s team since eighth grade and is a team captain.
A year ago, Manlove was a first-team All-State selection. She is committed to the University of Richmond on a lacrosse scholarship.
The Athlete of the Week is nominated and chosen by our readers. The nominating period starts at 2 p.m. on Friday and ends at noon on Monday. A voting period follows from 5 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Wednesday.

All nominations must be high school varsity athletes and come from high schools within Kent or Sussex counties. The winner appears in print and online each Sunday.
