Asay: Coons is actively supporting genocide

Posted

Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., is a staunch supporter of Israel and “its right to defend itself.” It seems that, to Sen. Coons, genocide is a necessary and acceptable solution to “keeping Israel safe.” Israel must be very vulnerable and its enemies very strong. But is that really the case, Sen. Coons?

Israel has the most powerful and aggressive military force in the Middle East. Israel enjoys the unconditional support of the United States, which supplies almost unlimited weaponry, money, logistical support and diplomatic cover for whatever actions Israel chooses to take. Is Israel a weak and vulnerable nation, Sen. Coons?

The Palestinian families in Gaza, who have survived more bombs dropped on their homes than all the bombs dropped during World War II, are huddled in makeshift tents, pitched in Israel-designated “safe zones,” and yet the bombs continue to fall on them. Are these Palestinian families the powerful and frightening enemies of Israel, Sen. Coons?

Israel’s leaders openly state their intention of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. A total blockade by Israel of food, water, fuel and medicine into Gaza over the past two months is also evidence of that intent. Does that look like genocide to you, Sen. Coons?

Israel’s leaders want to ensure that Israel is an apartheid — an ethnically pure state. No Arab peoples are welcome there, even if their forefathers have lived on that land for generations. For over 100 years, the Israeli government, and its supporters, have done everything they could to drive out or exterminate the historic occupants of the land that Israel alone must control. Do you support an apartheid government, Sen. Coons?

Sen. Coons sometimes expresses concern for the Palestinian people, but he always votes to send more and more money and weapons to the Israeli government. Words are cheap, but the pro-Israel lobby has enormous amounts of money that it shares with its allies to punish its critics. Are you grateful for the money you have received from The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Sen. Coons? Do you fear what AIPAC might do in the next election cycle, if you were to become critical of Israeli genocide?
