Arthur Lee Hairgrove

DOVER - Arthur Lee Hairgrove, of Dover, passed peacefully on Monday, April 25, with his daughter by his side, at Kent General Hospital. He had just turned 92. Mr. Hairgrove was born April 22, 1919, in Camden, to the late Arthur Lee Hairgrove and Ella Mae Shockley Hairgrove. He served in the United States Army/ Merchant Marine during WWII, specifically the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. Mr. Hairgrove also worked for 24 years as a Civil Service Administrative Assistant at Dover AFB, retiring in 1974. He loved taking care of his cars and was an avid reader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Myra Gibbs Hairgrove, Jan. 2009. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Stolson and her husband Jon of Rehoboth Beach; grandson, Steven Stolson and his wife Crystal; and two great-grandsons, Devin and Braddock Stolson, all of North Carolina. Services will be private. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
