SEAFORD — Two arrests followed a Saturday incident where police said a box of drugs were allegedly tossed from a vehicle during an attempted police stop, Seaford Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Eric Chambers said.

A passenger was allegedly seen throwing a box on Norman Eskridge Highway, authorities said. According to police, the box contained six bags of heroin, .8 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle stopped in a parking lot and the driver fled on foot, police said.

Mark Jones, 32, of Seaford was charged with tampering with evidence, possession of heroin, cocaine, and paraphernalia. He was wanted on two court capiases. Mr. Jones was incarcerated at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in lieu of $3,700 secured bond.

Warrants were obtained for William Smallwood, 45, and he was arrested Wednesday and issued an unsecured bond, police said.
