Arrest made in connection with Dover shooting incident in May

DOVER — A 19-year-old Dover man has been arrested in connection with an shooting incident on May 9, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

The incident at 2:33 a.m. in the 100 block of Spruance Road left a 17-year-old male injured, police said.

Following an investigation police said warrants were obtained for Khalil Smith on Oct. 30. Mr. Smith was arraigned at Sussex Correctional Institution, where police said he is being held on unrelated charges.

Mr. Smith was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited (two counts), first-degree reckless endangering (two counts), seconde-degree assault, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony and second-degree conspiracy. He was held on $75,500 cash bail related to the shooting incident.
