CAMBRIDGE — Two armed robberies occurred in Cambridge this week, and Cambridge Police are currently attributing both robberies to the same suspect.

The first incident occurred on Sunday evening at approximately 8:15. It was determined that a black male subject approached a couple in the parking lot behind Jimmie and Sooks, displayed a handgun and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and the subject fled on foot toward the High Street area.

The second incident occurred exactly 24 hours later, near the intersection of Gay and Spring streets. Again, the black male suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. Cell phones were also taken in that incident and the suspect fled on foot.

Officers responded to the area and found a subject matching the description. As officers attempted to make contact with him, he fled on foot and ran towards the 600 block of High Street, where the suspect appears to have went inside a residence. Despite efforts from Cambridge police, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Department and Maryland State Police, the search for the suspect was negative.

The description given in the last robbery was a black male, approximately 5’10” and approximately 165 pounds, with a dark colored baseball cap and dark colored shirt with striping on the front.

“We do believe both robberies are related,” stated Lt. Justin Todd of the Cambridge Police. “This is an open investigation and we are working a couple of leads, and will give more updated information as it becomes available. Anyone with information about these incidents are asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department at 410-228-3333.”
